# Sharing Conversations

> Create a shareable link to a conversation, control who can open it, and revoke access when you're done.

Sometimes the easiest way to hand off a conversation is to share it directly, without exporting or copy-pasting. WonkaChat lets you generate a link to a conversation and control exactly who can open it.

<Warning>
  Only share a conversation if you're comfortable with its content being read by whoever you grant access to. Shared links are covered in more detail below.
</Warning>

## Creating a Shared Link

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the conversation you want to share">
    Open the conversation from **Conversations** or **Archived chats** in the sidebar.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select Share">
    Use the **Share** action for the conversation.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose who can open the link">
    Pick who can open this link:

    <CardGroup cols={3}>
      <Card title="Anyone with the link" icon="globe">
        Signed in or not — no WonkaChat account is needed. Anyone who receives the link can read the conversation, including people outside your organization.
      </Card>

      <Card title="Organization members only" icon="building">
        Only people signed in with an account in your organization can open it.
      </Card>

      <Card title="Signed-in users" icon="user-check">
        Anyone who is signed in to WonkaChat can open it.
      </Card>
    </CardGroup>

    <Warning>
      "Anyone with the link" is the most permissive option. Use it only when you're fine with the conversation being readable by anyone who gets hold of the URL.
    </Warning>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Share the link">
    Copy the generated link and send it however you'd like (email, chat, and so on).
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Info>
  Your name, and any messages you add to the conversation after sharing, stay private — they aren't included in what the recipient sees.

## What the Recipient Sees

Whoever opens the link sees a read-only view of the conversation as it was at the time of sharing. If you continue the conversation afterward, the shared link updates to include your latest messages, but the link itself stays the same — you don't need to re-share it.

If the recipient doesn't have the required access (for example, an "organization members only" link opened by someone outside the organization, or opened while signed out), they'll be asked to sign in, or told they can't view the conversation.

## Changing Access or Revoking a Link

You can change who can open a link, or delete it entirely, from **Settings → Data controls → Shared links**.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Data controls">
    Go to **Settings → Data controls → Shared links** to see every link you've created.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Update access">
    Change who can open a specific link between "Anyone with the link," "Organization members only," and "Signed-in users."
  </Step>

  <Step title="Revoke a link">
    Delete a shared link to immediately stop it from working. Anyone who still has the URL will no longer be able to open the conversation.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Revoking a link doesn't delete your conversation — it only stops that specific link from granting access. You can always create a new share link later.
</Tip>

<Check>
  Use **Settings → Data controls → Shared links** any time you want an overview of what you've shared, and to clean up links you no longer need.
